Basundhara Welfare Foundation
was founded in 2021 by two like-minded people who wanted to make a difference to the Education of children of the common people residing in the Shankharipukur area, in the outskirts of Baruipur.
While one, Mr. Debasish Mandal, is a small entrepreneur, he still had the courage to think big in terms of returning his debt to the society. The gentleman promises to provide education to the less privileged children.
The other dreamer, Ms. Sushmita Dasgupta, is a seasoned professional having vast experience in the Education Development sector. Added to this is her acumen in Corporate work culture, which helps her to sharp edge of professionalism to have shape her dream into reality.
The lady who works from behind staying away from people,nevertheless completes her duty as a perfect woman is Ms Papri Mandal, wife of Mr Debasish Mandal.
She is actually the driving force behind formation of the NGO. When she visualized the concept of a school for the children, she took a phenomenal decision to donate the entire land measuring 36 cottahs (approximately 2 bighas) for the school. Her sense of doing good for the society didn’t stop there. She , without a second thought coughed up the entire amount of Rs 20 lacs for constructing the school.
The school came into being with the active participation of this perfect philanthropic woman-the woman of substance. She is the Chairperson of the NGO.
The advisor to this Governing body is Mr Saptarshi Mandal who is also an entrepreneur at a very young age and dreams of making this world a little better for the less privileged. He choses this position to support the NGO.
The Project co ordinator is Mr Debasish Halder who is a NET JRF qualified PhD scholar researching on Dalit theatrical assertion in Bengal.
The young man has done his Masters in Applied Theatre from Rabindra Bharati University and wishes to apply theatre to facilitate education, something new to us. According to him, " my goal is to develop an educational model tailored for first-time learners, integrating Theatre in Education methodologies.
Thus when he heard of Indo Webal School he couldn't but join the team as Project Co-ordinator. His goal perfectly matches with that of Indo Webal School and hence the management embraced him as a prime member of the team
