The Mission

Basundhara Welfare Foundation

was founded in 2021 by two like-minded people who wanted to make a difference to the Education of children of the common people residing in the Shankharipukur area, in the outskirts of Baruipur.

While one, Mr. Debasish Mandal, is a small entrepreneur, he still had the courage to think big in terms of returning his debt to the society. The gentleman promises to provide education to the less privileged children.

The other dreamer, Ms. Sushmita Dasgupta, is a seasoned professional having vast experience in the Education Development sector. Added to this is her acumen in Corporate work culture, which helps her to have sharp edge of professionalism to shape her dream into reality.

What We Do

We are running a Primary School in Shankharipukur, 6km away from the main area of Baruipur. 17 villages surround the area where we have begun to build the school, expecting to cater to a total coverage area of 8 to 12 km.

We decided to start Indo Webal National School, an English medium School. We provide preliminary education in English medium to approximately 54 children who come from migrant families of Lakshmikantapur, Sunderbans, Namkhana & other areas of South 24 Pargana. The age of the children range from 3 to 6 years. We are focused on making learning fun and activity based. There are 6 qualified teachers including the Principal.

We have already invested 20 lacs for two classrooms, one toilet, a playroom and a Teachers’ Room that are functional. The school structure has a foundation of three storied building encompassing the long term goal of making it a full fledged school.

Children have been given exercise books, two sets of uniforms, where one is for sport, sneakers, books, academic diaries, writing pencils and crayons.
